Rare 1930s vintage Humber track bike fixed gear/singlespeed
£180
Omschrijving
Very rare 20/30s Humber track bicycle. Humber were known as 'The Aristocrat of Bicycles' and made beautiful, high quality bikes. It has some great period features, rare wingnuts, an old kerosene lamp mounted to the front fork, original white celluloid Bluemels mudguards (not shown but included), black laquered north road handlebars, gallows pole seat tube, Dunlop saddle, beautiful rattrap pedals and a lovely bell.
The paintwork is original, traces of the humber name and logo can be seen on the downtube and headset. The wheels are 26 1 1/4, the size used on high end racing and club machines of the period. The original tyres and rim tape were rotted and so i replaced them. The tyres are brand new and whitewall. The rear wheel has a flip flop hub, so is single speed and fixed gear. It is quite unusual in that the single speed sprocket has 3 gear ratios to choose from.
The bottom bracket has just been fully serviced and all bearings replaced and greased. Being a track bike, it only has a front brake but I can include a rear brake in the sale if required. Front brake stops the bike ok, but could benefit from a new cable (likely the original still on there!). Bike is in ride away condition but the wheels could use a little trueing, easily done at any local bike shop. The lamp is untested, I keep it on for the look but I have never tried using it.
Cash on collection only, no shipping and no offers.
Might not be everyones cup of tea, but this is a rare and unique bike that gets attention wherever it goes.
