Omschrijving
Adelta Bubble Chair is a classic example of Iconic sculptural form and furniture originally designed in 1968 by Finnish designer Eero Aarnio.
The Bubble Chair is one of those iconic, modern 60s shapes that completely changed people's concept of what a chair was supposed to be, and could be. Today, it serves as a classic example of space-age design, and continues to add fun and excitement to well-furnished living rooms and lounges around the world. The Bubble Chair was actually a follow-up to the first chair design based on a ball shape, Aarnio's equally-iconic (and aptly named) Ball Chair. Aarnio began by sketching one of the simplest geometric forms - the ball - and cutting part out to create a chair that is also a room within a room. The Bubble Chair was inspired by Aarnio's desire to bring light into his ball, and subsequent realization that the best way to accomplish this aim was to make the ball transparent, like a soap bubble. He contacted a skylight manufacturer and asked him to blow the clear acrylic used in skylights into a bubble shape. The bubble was blown, the seat was added, and a design icon was born. Aarnio had but one challenge left. What would his magical new chair rest on? His aesthetic sense made placing the chair on a pedestal similar to that of the ball chair a no-no, as he saw no way to create a clear pedestal for his creation without compromising the design. Instead, he opted for the not-so-obvious and hung the chair from above rather than set it on the floor. The bubble chair requires fixing into the ceiling; ideally into a joist. Indoor Use only. The weight of the Bubble Chair is 25kg with a maximum weight carry of 220kg. Item is in used condition it is a licensed reproduction cost £1600 looking for just £550.
